A minor brush fire ignited along the periphery of I-20 near exit 47 in Dixie Inn on the afternoon of August 31, resulting in traffic congestion. The blaze encompassed an estimated area of 2 acres.

Local authorities swiftly summoned the Minden Fire Department to address the situation, bolstered by water assistance from Fire District 7, and aided by a bulldozer dispatched by the Department of Agriculture and Forestry.

According to Fire Chief Brian Williams, the fire’s progression was promptly curtailed, and full extinguishment was anticipated by early evening. Commuters and residents are advised to exercise caution while normalcy is restored to the affected area.
