Former Minden High star L’Jarius Sneed is helping a youth football team in Kansas City get to its national championship tournament, according to a report by Kansas City, Mo., TV station KCTV.

According to the report, Maurice Woodard, the head coach of the KC Dynasty 11U team, reached out to the Kansas City Chiefs cornerback as part of an effort to raise money for the trip to Panama City, Fla, site of the tournament that begins Wednesday.

“Families of many of the players on the team cannot afford to send their kids to Florida for the games,” the report stated.

So a GoFundMe was set up and Woodard contacted Sneed.

“I sent him over a message, and I was like ‘Bro, what do you think you could do to help us?’ Woodard told KCTV. “He was like, ‘Listen, I can definitely try to help a little bit. I’m all for the kids. Any way I can help.’ ”

Woodard told KCTV that Sneed’s support means a lot to his players.

“It means everything to them because they see him every Sunday For them to understand, ‘Man, he sees us, too,’ is amazing, so they’re pretty excited.”

Sneed, a former Louisiana Tech star, is in his fourth season with the Chiefs. Last season, he helped Kansas City win the Super Bowl.

This season, the Chiefs are 8-4. Sneed has 42 solo tackles and 16 assists. He leads the team in interceptions with two.
