MPD requests help of citizens in apprehention of a suspicious person

by Minden Press-Herald

Tuesday afternoon the City of Minden held an urgent press conference in order to inform citizens of a new threat to the city’s Christmas spirit this holiday season. During the conference, Mayor Nick Cox along with Police Chief Jared McIver warned citizens of a suspect who has been sighted in the local area and urged residents to help local law enforcement find and apprehend him.

“We have a particular situation. Christmas in Minden was so successful … and this has caught the attention of a lot of tourism. Outside people have noticed how beautiful our city is, and that’s thanks to the hard work of a lot of city workers,” said Mayor Cox.

“But with the good comes the bad, and we’ve also caught the attention of some people, or in particular, one certain situation that has started noticing our city.”

The mayor went on to provide a description of the suspect, and what citizens will need to be on the lookout for.

“During this holiday season I’d like for you to be particularly on the lookout for any green hairy individuals. Also, keep a watch out for odd-looking things such as dogs with horns strapped to their heads with rope,” said Mayor Cox.

“Neighbors need to watch out for one another and keep an eye out. We need to work closely with law enforcement officials during this season. As your mayor, I want you to know that we are not going to let anyone steal our Christmas spirit this year.”

Chief McIver then started providing more details about the situation, confirming the description the mayor had presented along with how citizens can help the police department apprehend the individual.

“The mayor has told everyone today about some information that we have. As a department, we’ve been receiving intelligence from local neighboring agencies about a subject who may possibly be coming to our town,” said Chief McIver.

“This subject, as the mayor described, is green, hairy, may even be wearing some red and white. The information we have is that this subject is not dangerous to people, but he’s dangerous to the Christmas spirit. Because of that, we want you to remain vigilant, we want you to be looking out for him.”

The chief then gave instructions to citizens to call 318-510-4701 to inform them of any sighting of the green and hairy suspect.

“You’re encouraged to call anytime that you may see someone resembling this subject. You may get a recording, and if you do leave a message of where you saw that individual, where at, what they were doing, and a date and time,” said Chief McIver.

“This is going to help us as a local law enforcement agency to hopefully apprehend him to keep him from stealing the spirit of Christmas. Again, this subject is not a danger to anyone, just to the spirit of Christmas, so we need your help in trying to apprehend this subject to save the Christmas Spirit of Minden.”

This is an ongoing investigation and the Minden Press-Herald will be providing more updates on the story as information becomes publicly available.
