As part of the ongoing celebrations for Black History Month, Minden is gearing up for the MLK / Black History Parade, scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 17, at 11 AM in downtown Minden.
The parade promises a vibrant display of culture and community spirit, featuring local vendors, scholarship winners, the highly anticipated Battle of the Bands, a youth rally, and various other activities.
This year’s youth rally will feature Mr. Karl Pearce as the keynote speaker, imparting wisdom and inspiration to the younger generation. Additionally, the parade will be led by the esteemed Grand Marshal, Fayrine Kennon Gilbert, in recognition of her contributions and dedication to the community.
Event coordinator Michael Walker expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming festivities, stating, “We want everyone to come out and celebrate and have a great time. Fun for the whole family and community.”
The MLK / Black History Parade serves as a platform to honor the rich heritage and achievements of African Americans while fostering unity and camaraderie within the Minden community.
