High school baseball: Bower, Ranger help Minden down Loyola

The Minden Crimson Tide defeated Loyola 4-1 Tuesday at Griffith Stadium.

Brody Bower went the distance. He gave up just four hits, struck out eight and walked two.

Bryson Ranger had three of the Tide’s four hits. Bower had a double.

Jakobe Jackson and Ranger had one RBI each. Parker Salas drew three walks.

Minden (11-6) visits Cedar Creek Wednesday at 6. Loyola dropped to 5-13.

In a District 1-B opener, Doyline fell to Weston 18-4 in six innings at Doyline,

The Panthers led 4-2 after four innings but Weston scored five in the fifth and 11 in the sixth.

Austin Arbaugh had two of Doyline’s five hits. He went 2-for-2 and walked twice.

The Panthers (7-7) and Wolves (10-9) are scheduled to complete the two-game series Thursday at Weston at 5.

In a non-district game Monday, North Webster defeated Huntington 15-5 in five innings. 

Cayden Bernard went 2-for-3 with two RBI. The Knights (10-6) are scheduled to visit Minden Thursday at 6.
