College baseball: Tech ready for Friday night showdown against Kansas State in Fayetteville Regional

ABOUT #2 LOUISIANA TECH (45-17)
Louisiana Tech is coming off a 17-10 loss in the CUSA Championship game against DBU on Sunday in Ruston. Tech punched its ticket to its 11th NCAA Regional appearance in program history while being the third regional LA Tech has been announced to in four years. 

LA Tech has a record of 13-18 in the NCAA Tournament and in 5-4 in regional openers. The Bulldogs went 1-2 in their last regional appearance in 2022 at the Austin Regional. LA Tech defeated Dallas Baptist, 12-5, before falling to No. 9 Texas (5-2) and Air Force (9-7).

LA Tech is one win away from tying the program’s single-season wins record. The program record for wins in a single season is 46, which was set in 1978 when Pat Patterson led the Bulldogs to a 46-21 mark and an NCAA Regional appearance.

ABOUT #3 KANSAS ST. (33-24)
Kansas State fell to TCU 9-4 in the BIG 12 Conference tournament. The Wildcats are batting .271 on the season with a slugging percentage of .426 and an on-base percentage of .377. Brady Day leads the team with a batting average of .332 and a .997 OPS with 214 at-bats. Day leads Kansas State also with 53 RBI and 71 hits. 

THE SERIES
Louisiana Tech is 1-3 all-time against Kansas State since the first meeting between the two programs was in 1986 at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park. Kansas State has won three straight games against Louisiana Tech. The last time Louisiana Tech and Kansas State faced off was in 2004 in the Centenary Tournament in Shreveport, La., which Tech lost to Kansas St. 7-4.
