RUSTON — Louisiana Tech’s Jorge Corona, Ethan Bates, and Cole McConnell were named to the 2024 ABCA/Rawlings South All-Region First Team, the ABCA announced on Tuesday.
Bates, named CUSA Player of the Year, recorded 17 saves this season on the mound and had a 3.43 ERA in 36 appearances while batters facing him were hitting .180 this season. The Hot Springs, Arkansas native batted .337 with 87 hits and 74 RBI with 15 home runs this season.
McConnell, a CUSA First Team All-Conference selection, led Tech in batting with a .378 average, slugging percentage of .671, and on-base percentage of .461. with also 18 home runs in 2024. McConnell led the Bulldogs in homers with 18 and hits with 94 in his senior season.
Jorge Corona batted .316 at the plate with 77 hits and had an on-base percentage of .388 while slugging .570 as well. The Miami native had 16 homers on the year and drove in 51 RBI.
