The Minden All-Stars won the Dixie Youth Softball Darlings (8U) state tournament Tuesday in Alexandria.
Minden completed a 5-0 run through the tournament with an 10-6 victory over the Ruston All-Stars at the Johnny Downs Sports Complex.
Minden rolled through the tournament, defeating Caldwell 13-3, West Monroe 10-2 and Sabine 8-1 in their first three games. They defeated West Monroe 9-2 to reach the championship round against Ruston.
Minden led 5-2 after the first inning. Ruston tied it with three in top of the third, but Minden answered with one in the bottom of the inning to go up 6-5.
After Ruston tied it in the top of the fourth, Minden scored four in the bottom of the inning to take the 10-6 lead.
Members of the state championship team are Laikyn Hollingsworth, Laikyn Lewis, Aubrey Chanler, Harper Barnette, Annabel Sunderland, Avery Mills, Cheslie Darden, Lexie Perryman, Marley Bogues, Stella Perryman, Ryan Gordon and Andi Brooke Hollingsworth.
Coaches are Logan Hollingsworth, Tyler Lewis, Matt Chanler, Jason Sunderland and Kyle Darden
Minden will represent Louisiana in the World Series in Prince George, Va. The opening ceremony is scheduled for July 26.
