Youth softball: Three Minden teams remain alive in World Series tournaments

Three Minden All-Star teams remain alive in their respective Dixie Youth Softball World Series tournaments.

At the Darlings (8U) tournament in Prince George, Va., Minden has won two straight since dropping a tough 2-1 decision to Troy, Ala., in its opener Saturday.

Minden defeated host team Prince George 5-4 and Tennessee 5-1 Sunday.

Minden, one of four teams left in the eight-team double-elimination tournament, plays South Carolina Monday at 10 a.m. The winner advances to the championship round.

Also at Prince George, Minden defeated Florida 3-0 in its opener Saturday in the Angels X-Play (10U) tournament before falling to Alabama 5-1 Sunday.

Minden, one of five teams left in the eight-team tournament, faces North Carolina at 10 a.m. If Minden wins, they will play the loser of a game between Alabama and Virginia at 1 p.m. The winner advances to the championship round.

After losing its opener to Montgomery Saturday, Minden has won two straight in the SweeTees X-Play (6U) tournament in Monroe. Minden defeated two teams from Tennessee Sunday and is one of five teams left in the nine-team tournament. The winner advances to the championship round.

Minden plays the winner of a game between two Montgomery, Ala., teams Monday at 6:30 p.m.
