On Friday, August 16, the Springhill Methodist Church, located at 104 4th St. NW, in Springhill, Louisiana, hosted breakfast for eighty two (82) North Webster High School incoming Freshmen. These 2024 classmates and several teachers and administrators enjoyed being served pancakes, sausage and juice at this sit down meal.
Reverend Doctor David Ellis greeted and welcomed attendees before blessing the food. Debbie Thomas, Parish School Board Representative for District 2, directed students to take a seat at the decorated tables. A video of their Freshmen Orientation Day played throughout the event. Members of the SMC were waiting and ready to serve each person and urged all to write their names and draw on the table cloths! There was a brief “conversation” by Margaret Edens, Webster Parish School Board District 1 Representative, explaining that the purpose of this gathering was to let each student know that SMC was across the street from their school and willing and able to give them various kinds of support throughout their school years.
