Grambling State travels to the Lone Star State Saturday night for a road tilt against an unfamiliar foe, the Texas A&M-Commerce Lions.
Saturday’s meeting will be the first-ever between the two FCS schools, separated by 225 miles.
Grambling State enters Saturday’s game with a 1-1 record after earning a 37-20 victory over Tuskegee last weekend at Eddie G. Robinson Memorial Stadium.
Texas A&M-Commerce, who is a member of the Southland Conference, is searching for its first win of the season after falling to No. 18 UC-Davis 36-22.
Kickoff for Saturday’s game is set for 6 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with Greg Higgins (Play-by-Play) and Adam Routon (Analyst) on the call. Fans can also listen to game live on KGRM 91.5 FM and KPCH 99.3 The Peach with Onaje Morris (Play-by-Play), Nathan McCarter (Analyst) and Ta’Mya Johnson (Sideline).

THE MATCH-UP
- Grambling State travels to Commerce, Texas to for non-conference match-up versus Texas A&M-Commerce. Saturday’s game will be the first ever meeting between GSU and A&M-Commerce.
FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON
- Grambling State notched its first win of the season with a 37-20 triumph over Tuskegee last Saturday. The Tigers built an insurmountable 37-0 lead in the second quarter. Quarterback Myles Cawley threw for 304 yards and four touchdowns in the win. The GSU defense also came up big, forcing three turnovers and returning a fumble for a score.
- The win was also the first in the black and gold for new GSU head coach Mickey Joseph
THE MYLES CRAWLEY EXPERIENCE
- Grambling State starting quarterback Myles Crawley was selected as the preseason SWAC Offensive Player of the Year. He was also placed on the Walter Payton Watch List. Last season, the Redshirt-Senior from Lithonia, Ga. threw for 2,303 yards and 16 touchdowns while completing 60.1 percent of his passes (197-of-328). He was the first Grambling State quarterback to throw for at least 2,000 yards in a season since Devante Kincaid in 2017 and the first GSU QB to throw at least 16 touchdowns since Geremy Hickbottom in 2018.
THE “BOOT” IS HOME
- Grambling State’s roster features 60 players from the state of Louisiana. This year’s team is also full of new faces with 68 new players wearing the black & gold this season.
THE OPPONENT
- Texas A&M-Commerce is coming off of a 36-22 loss to No. 18 UC-Davis. The Lions enter Saturday’s game with the ninth ranked passing offense in FCS (289.0 ypg). The Lions are led by second year head coach Clint Dolezal.
GSU vs. The Southland Conference
- The last time GSU face member of the Southland Conference was in 2022. The Tigers defeated Northwestern State 47-21 in Shreveport, La. on Sept. 10, 2022.
