As expected, the Lakeside Warriors rolled past the Plain Dealing Lions 62-0 Friday night at Warriors Stadium.
Lakeside improved to 3-0 for the first time since 2018. Class 1A Plain Dealing (0-3), which has several seventh- and eighth-graders on their 15-player roster, suffered its 27th straight loss.
The Warriors scored on their first three offensive plays and led 34-0 late in the first quarter.
Eli Santelices and James Maxie scored touchdowns on runs of 63 and 25 yards, respectively. Santelices also caught a touchdown pass of 34 yards from Brock Case.
Trevor Tharpe caught a 10-yard touchdown pass and Ken’travion Miller scored on a 38-yard run to complete the first-quarter scoring. Santelices kicked four extra points.
Lakeside led 49-0 at the half and added a couple of more touchdowns in the second.
Other Warriors scoring touchdowns were James Roberson, Levi Bogdan and Collin Walker. Noah Redding had a 34-yard catch.
Isaiah Love led the team in tackles with 5. Gage Williams had 3.5 and Bogdan 3. Taron Riley intercepted a pass and recovered a fumble.
After two weeks at home, Lakeside heads south Friday for a matchup with Northwood-Lena. The Gators (1-2) defeated Pickering 28-7 Friday night.
