Springhill City Park gets a colorful makeover thanks to community volunteers and  local businesses

by Minden Press-Herald

October 4, 2024 – Springhill citizens truly came together this past weekend,  transforming the Springhill City Park into a vibrant, lively space that radiates community pride  and spirit. Volunteers from all corners of our city – and beyond – rolled up their sleeves to make  a big impact, painting murals, refurbishing park fixtures, and bringing new life to the park  grounds.

The event was a testament to what happens when community members join forces. The park now  boasts bright colors, refreshed playgrounds, and a renewed atmosphere of joy and happiness.  “We laughed, painted, sang, listened to music, and made a difference today. This is  commUNITY in action,” said Amie Poladian, Executive Director of Springhill Main Street. “The  colors pop, and there’s happiness to be had here. We are so proud of our town and what we  accomplished together.”

A special thank you goes out to the companies and volunteers who made it all possible. Local  businesses stepped up, and their employees volunteered their personal and company time to  contribute to a more beautiful Springhill. Participating companies included Teijin, Walmart  Springhill, Springhill Medical Center, Filthy Rags, Kindred Spirits Oddities and  Curiosities, and the Springhill~North Webster Chamber of Commerce

Special shout-outs go to Springhill Medical Center for providing extra paint supplies and to  Teijin for donating bottled water to keep everyone hydrated throughout the day. “Your support  made a huge difference,” said Amie. “We appreciate every brushstroke, every hour spent, and  every bit of effort put into making our community a better place to live, work, and play.”

Looking Forward

“Community engagement is everything,” emphasized Poladian, a spokesperson for the event.  “Small improvements like these lead to big changes, and today we proved it! Bright things are  coming our way, Springhill, and it all started with a splash of color and a lot of heart at the city  park.”

The event serves as a reminder that when community members and local businesses collaborate,  they create more than just aesthetic improvements – they build stronger connections and a shared  sense of pride. Springhill Main Street is looking forward to continuing these efforts and further  enhancing the city’s shared spaces.
