Written by the family

Patrick (Pat) Cleburne Chanler, born on April 23, 1943, in Minden, Louisiana, passed away on October 8, 2024, surrounded by loved ones.
Pat was a beloved father, son, grandfather, and friend known for his wit and sense of humor. He dedicated his life to the Navy and his family, leaving a lasting impact on those who knew him.
A proud graduate of Minden High School, Pat pursued a career in carpentry where he was respected and admired for his skill and dedication. Outside of work, he enjoyed reading, watching sports, and was passionate about supporting his children in any way.
Pat was a skilled carpenter that took enormous pride in his work and that he was tough as any man out there. He served his country with honor and pride for 23 years as a US Navy Seabee. Most importantly he was a man of eminence faith in his lord and savior Jesus Christ and we know he is in heaven with his parents, siblings, and friends, probably trying to build something with his dad. For a few lucky people, he was the best father that anyone could ever ask for and he will be missed dearly by all of us everyday.
Patrick is survived by his wife, Penny Chanler, children, Tate Chanler of Arkadelphia, Kelsey Chanler (Garett Crews) of Minden, La, Andy Chanler (Misty Chanler) of Hampton, Bryon Johnson (Joanne Johnson) of Pensacola, Fl., grandson Braden Johnson of Watertown, Ny, along with two nieces Patti Taylor (C.A. Taylor) of Bossier City, La., and Tana Beckman of Olive Branch, Ms., as well as many friends who will cherish his memory.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Thelma and Patrick N. Chanler, along with his sister Billie Jean Rea.
Visitation will be held at Young’s Funeral Home in El Dorado, Ar. from 6pm-8pm on Thursday, October 10. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 11 at Cornerstone Church in Smackover, Ar. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Minden High School Softball team (400 S. College St, Minden, La.)
