Karen’s Korner,
The Mission Statement for the Webster Parish Council on Aging,
The Webster Parish Council on Aging has the mission of promoting the dignity and independence of our Senior Citizens and to help society prepare for an aging population.
This mission is carried out through a local network of public and private organizations under the guidance of the Older Americans Act. It is the responsibility of our Council on Aging to serve as the advocate for Senior Citizens at the local and state level. We oversee the development of a comprehensive and coordinated system of care. This care will be designed to support Senior Citizens while staying at home and to participate fully in a community life.
To accomplish our mission, we will: *Work with others to create a complete and responsive system of services.
*Focus attention on meeting the needs of older people and adults with disabilities.
*Plan, develop new programs, educate the public, provide advocacy, and provide direct services that include the involvement of older adults, and others representing the diversity of our community.
*Promote a comprehensive long-term care system.
*Support intergenerational partnering and planning in our community.
At the Council we provide:
Congregate meals at the Center, Home-delivered meals, (for home-bound)
Homemaker Services, (light daily living activities/housework)
Information and Assistance, Health Promotion & Disease Prevention, Recreation, (provide seniors with individual and group activities that promote social interaction)
and Transportation Services!
It is our joy to address the unique and major concerns and needs of our seniors in Webster Parish!
