Minden’s Leigha Gilbert has signed with Southern Arkansas.
Gilbert, who has played a variety of positions, batted .573 with seven home runs and 36 RBI. She was named first-team All-District 1-4A at outfielder and first-team All-State at utility by the Louisiana Softball Coaches Association.
Gilbert posted the following on her Facebook page.
“Thank you, Jesus, for this opportunity! I’m so blessed and excited. The journey I’ve been through with this sport hasn’t been easy, but it’s been so rewarding! After praying for months for direction on where I’d play in college, I received a text from Coach Anderson while I was in church. I went on a visit and loved it, and I knew this was the place for me!
