Minden man arrested on drug, paraphernalia, and other charges

by Minden Press-Herald

A Minden man was arrested Friday after a routine patrol led to the discovery of drugs and drug paraphernalia, along with additional charges for providing false information to police.

Dedrick Miller, 45, was walking on the wrong side of Winford Street on the afternoon of November 22 when an officer stopped him for the traffic infraction. After initial contact and a pat-down for weapons, the officer requested and received Miller’s consent to conduct a search.

The search revealed a pipe commonly used to smoke methamphetamine, which contained a 0.21-gram methamphetamine rock. Miller was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Minden Police Department for booking.

During processing, officers discovered Miller had provided false information regarding his name and date of birth. Miller was later transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Facility, where probation and parole authorities requested a hold be placed on him.

Miller faces charges of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting an officer/failure to identify, and pedestrian on a highway.

All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
