A Jacksonville, Arkansas, man was arrested Saturday night following a domestic violence incident on Shreveport Road, authorities said.
Officers responded to a reported fight between a man and a woman at approximately 10:15 PM. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, who reported that a verbal altercation with her boyfriend, Brandon Thompson, 26, escalated into violence, during which Thompson struck her in the head multiple times with his phone.
According to the girlfriend, Thompson’s mother intervened and told him to leave the scene. Officers began searching for Thompson and received a tip from a bystander who reported seeing the suspect hide in nearby bushes as officers arrived. Thompson was located and apprehended near the intersection of Sheppard Street and Shreveport Road.
While still on the scene, officers interviewed both the girlfriend and Thompson’s mother, who stated that Thompson was on probation in both Louisiana and Arkansas. The girlfriend alleged that Thompson had struck her multiple times earlier that day and throughout their relationship. She further disclosed that they share one child and that she is currently three months pregnant with a second child.
The girlfriend and Thompson’s mother each completed a written statement, and the girlfriend also completed a complaint affidavit and a LAVANS form.
Thompson was transported to the Minden Police Department and booked on charges of domestic abuse battery.
