Three Webster Parish teams are among 33 competing in the “Doc” Rdwards Invitational tournament which starts Thursday in Bossier City.

The Minden Crimson Tide is in the 18-team boys bracket. The Minden Lady Tiders and North Webster Lady Knights are in the 15-team girls bracket.

Like the Minden Holiday Classic, the ‘Doc’ Edwards is a bracket tournament. For the first two days, games will be played at host school Airline, Benton High, Bossier and Cope Middle School.

The championship and third-place games and consolation finals will all be played at Airline on Saturday.

The Crimson Tide (10-0) have already won two tournaments this season, including the Brown Service Center Minden Holiday Classic. Minden faces Ruston (2-3) in the first round Thursday at 4 p.m. at Airline. If Minden wins, the Tide will play its quarterfinal game Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Benton. They will play the winner of a game between Benton and the winner of a main-draw play-in game between Eunice and Ebarb. If the Tide gets to the semifinals, that game is at Friday at 7:30 at Airline.

Two-time defending champion Huntington (8-3) is in the top half of the bracket opposite Minden.

The Lady Tiders (6-5) take on Hornbeck (5-8), last year’s runner-up, in the first round at 1:30 at Airline. The winner faces the Cedar Creek-Homer winner in the quarterfinals Friday at 10:3 a.m. at Airline.

North Webster takes on Benton at 4:30 p.m. at Benton in the first round. The winner faces the Bossier-Ebarb winner in the quarterfinals Friday at noon at Benton.

The Lady Knights are in the bottom half of the bracket which includes defending champion Arcadia (12-2), which won the Minden Holiday Classic.
