Minden man arrested for fraud, resisting police

by Minden Press-Herald

A Minden man was arrested Saturday after allegedly obtaining a vehicle in Arkansas through fraudulent checks and attempting to flee from police.

Rickenski Cosby, 41, was identified as the suspect in a financial crime involving a ministry account. Minden police located the vehicle linked to the case in the 500 block of Winford Street. As officers monitored the vehicle, it began making loops through the neighborhood, appearing to check for surveillance.

The vehicle stopped in the 600 block of Morrow Street, where officers made contact with Cosby. When asked to speak with police, Cosby refused and walked away. After an officer issued a verbal command to stop, Cosby fled on foot, leaving behind his shoes and hat.

“He ran out of his shoes and hat,” the officer stated in his report.

Patrol units responded and located Cosby nearby. Officers ordered him to stop, but he continued walking back toward the vehicle. When officers attempted to detain him, he resisted, refusing to place his hands behind his back. An officer used a Taser to subdue him, after which he was taken into custody.

Cosby was treated at the scene for minor injuries to his hands, presumed from hopping fences during his flight, before being transported to Minden Police Department for booking. Authorities determined he was wanted by three other agencies for similar crimes, with two agencies requesting extradition.

He was booked on two counts of resisting an officer and released on a summons. Cosby was later transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center, where he awaits extradition to Arkansas and Texas.

All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
