Sibley man arrested after firing gun during altercation

by Minden Press-Herald

A Sibley man was arrested Saturday night after allegedly firing a gun during a dispute and threatening multiple individuals.

Webster Parish sheriff’s deputies responded around 8 PM to reports of a disturbance involving a firearm in the 600 block of Horseshoe Loop. While en route, deputies were informed that the suspect had left the scene in a red vehicle traveling east on Highway 164 toward Sibley.

Another officer located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, Timothy Hall, 23, of Sibley, was reportedly intoxicated, with bloodshot eyes and a strong odor of alcohol.

Investigators learned that Hall had fired a gun after a verbal altercation with the complainant. Four witnesses stated that after leaving a bonfire, Hall was driving erratically and nearly hit the complainant’s dog. When confronted, Hall allegedly retrieved a handgun, cocked it, and fired a shot beside the complainant, who feared for her life.

Hall then placed the gun back in his car and continued arguing, allegedly threatening to kill the complainant and others. A witness removed the firearm from Hall’s vehicle while he was distracted. Shortly afterward, Hall drove approximately 30 yards, stopped, exited his vehicle, and again threatened to kill everyone. Upon realizing the firearm was missing, he left the scene.

One witness stated she believed Hall would have killed someone if the gun had not been removed.

Hall was booked on charges of aggravated assault with a firearm, illegal discharge of a firearm, and four counts of simple assault.

All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
