The Minden Crimson Tide rolled to a 77-45 victory over the Southwood Cowboys Friday night at Southwood.
Minden improved to 20-3 overall and finished district play 6-1. The Tide finished runner-up to Bossier (15-7, 7-0), which routed North DeSoto 61-19 Friday.
Minden closes the regular season Wednesday at Benton. According to GeauxPreps.com, Minden has moved up one spot to No. 2 in the non-select Division II power rankings. The Tide is virtually assured of receiving a first-round bye in the playoffs then hosting a second-round game.
Friday’s game was close for a quarter with Minden up 17-15. But it wasn’t close for long. The Tide outscored the Cowboys 28-7 in the second for a 45-22 lead.
Jaiden Franklin and Cameron Parker led Minden with 19 points each. Darnell Morris added 10 and Kameron Harris nine.
Desmond Wright paced Southwood (7-17, 2-5) with 31.
In a Thursday night District 1-B game, the Doyline Panthers defeated Castor 67-64. Doyline, which improved to 22-6 overall and 4-3 in district, visits Quitman Tuesday.
