Springhill woman arrested in domestic dispute involving knife

by Minden Press-Herald

A Springhill woman was arrested February 19 following a domestic dispute that escalated to violence in the 700 block of Payne Street, according to police.

Officers responded to a report of a domestic altercation involving a knife. Upon arrival, officers spoke separately with both individuals involved. Yolanda Daniels, 50, told officers that she and her boyfriend had been arguing when he blocked her path in the hallway. Daniels admitted to kicking his leg twice, after which he allegedly pushed her onto a couch. She stated that she fought back, but he grabbed her by the throat and strangled her. After breaking free, she vomited and then ran to the kitchen, grabbed a knife, and chased him out of the house.

Officers noted that Daniels had bruising around her neck and chest, while the man had scratches on his face, a busted lip, and additional scratches on his arm.

Daniels, who has had three prior domestic-related cases—two of which were dismissed by the same man, with one still pending—was arrested and charged with domestic abuse aggravated assault.

All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
