Buds & Blooms draws crowd for gardening seminars and brunch

The 2025 Buds & Blooms event, hosted by the Piney Hills Louisiana Master Gardeners, took place Saturday, February 22, at First Methodist Church, drawing a large crowd of gardening enthusiasts.

Attendees enjoyed a morning of expert-led seminars covering various horticultural topics. Kathy Cropper, owner of Red Blooms, presented “Use What You Have,” offering insights on utilizing existing garden resources. Birder and educator John Dillon captivated the audience with his discussion on “Hummingbirds,” while Dr. Ron Strahan of the LSU Ag Center provided practical advice on “Weed Management in Landscapes.”

In addition to the educational sessions, participants were treated to a brunch and had the opportunity to take part in a raffle featuring a Halo product giveaway. Door prizes and other activities added to the excitement of the event.Proceeds from Buds & Blooms will benefit the 4-H Youth Gardening Contest and 4-H scholarships.
