22 Hands-Up plans March 8 field trip to Ruston FD, Grambling

by Amber McDown

Local nonprofit 22 Hands-Up has scheduled a field trip for March 8, featuring visits to the Ruston Fire Department, the Eddie G. Robinson Museum, and Grambling State University.

The trip will begin with a tour of the Ruston Fire Department, where Tommy Woods, a recruiter for the department, will be part of a guided tour for the group. Woods noted there may be future firefighters among the attendees.

Following the tour, participants will visit the Eddie Robinson Museum and have lunch on the Grambling State University campus. In the afternoon, they will attend both a women’s and men’s basketball game at the university.

“We’re going to make a day of it,” said Darrell Hampton, executive director of 22 Hands-Up.

About a dozen youth have signed up for the trip, but additional spots are available. For more information, contact Darrell Hampton at (318) 607-2786.
