Haughton man killed in single-vehicle Bossier Parish crash

by Minden Press-Herald

A Haughton man was killed on February 26 in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 80 near Bellevue Road, according to Louisiana State Police.

Ronnie Garcia, 43, was driving a 1997 Toyota SUV eastbound on the highway around 2:25 PM when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle left the roadway and overturned.

Garcia, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the SUV and pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities do not suspect impairment, but toxicology samples were collected for analysis.

The crash remains under investigation.

State police emphasized the importance of seat belt use, noting that while not all crashes are survivable, wearing a seat belt significantly reduces the risk of severe injury or death. Louisiana law requires all occupants of a vehicle to remain buckled at all times.
