High school baseball: Minden, Glenbrook win

The Minden Crimson Tide ended a three-game slide with a 7-4 victory over Many Friday in the Bistineau Classic hosted by Lakeside.

Lakeside fell to Airline 4-2.

In non-tournament games, Glenbrook defeated D’Arbonne Woods 7-3 at Glenbrook and North Webster fell to Family Community in Shreveport.

At Lakeside, Minden led Many 5-0 through three innings. The Tigers cut the lead to one with four in the top of the fourth.

The Tide scored one in the bottom of the inning then added another run in the sixth.

Hudson Brown and Rider Miller both went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Jaxon Smith went 2-for-4 with a double. 

Starting pitcher Bray Winston had two RBI. Bryson Ranger had a hit and walked twice. Topher Wilson drew two walks.

Winston allowed two hits in 3 2/3 innings. Landyn Huddleston gave up one hit, struck out five and walked none in 3 1/3 innings. 

Minden (4-6) plays Pine Tree (Longview, Texas) at noon Saturday at Lakeside.

Lakeside’s Gage Williams pitched a complete game against Airline. He allowed six hits and no earned runs with four strikeouts and no walks. Lakeside plays Cedar Creek Saturday at 6.

At Glenbrook, the Apaches trailed 3-2 through five innings then put five on the board in the bottom of the sixth.

Seth Mangrum led off the sixth with a home run. Hudson Glasscock had an RBI single to give the Apaches the lead for good. Kleaton Davis’ sacrifice bunt scored Brayden Watkins.

Jackson Waller, who went 2-for-4, smacked a two-run home with two outs run to make it 7-3.

Mangrum went 2-for-2 with two RBI. Dawson Day had a double.

Sam Ricord went the distance. He scattered six hits, struck out three and walked one.

Glenbrook (4-4) and defending non-select Division IV state champion Oak Grove are scheduled to play a doubleheader Saturday at Oak Grove starting at noon.
