High school boys basketball: Minden rolls into quarterfinals

The Minden Crimson Tide rolled into the non-select Division II quarterfinals with a 69-32 rout of Beau Chene Tuesday night at Minden.

Minden (22-3), the No. 2 seed, will host No. 7 Franklin Parish in the quarterfinals Friday at 7 p.m. with a trip to Lake Charles and the state tournament on the line. The Patriots (17-8) defeated No. 10 Albany 60-42 in the second round.

Beau Chene, the No. 15 seed, closed its season 16-18.

Doyline’s season came to an end with a 64-55 loss to No. 5 Hicks on the road in a Class B second-round game. The No. 12 seed Panthers finished 22-9. Hicks improved to 31-8.

At Minden, the Tide wasted no time taking control. They led 19-10 after the first quarter then took all the suspense out of the game with a 20-6 second-quarter run.

There was more of the same in the third quarter and Minden took a 60-23 lead into the fourth.

Darnell Morris and Cameron Parker led the Tide with 20 and 17 points, respectively. Kameron Harris added 13. Jaiden Franklin chipped in eight.

Chris Harris had five. Hudson Brown, Carmelo Smith and Chris Harris all scored two.

JaVontre Charles led Beau Chene with 16 points.
