Project Reclaim has received an additional $10,000 in funding for its Louisiana Youth For Excellence (LYFE) program following an unannounced site visit from LYFE Executive Director Dr. Amanda Shackleford and Program Manager Tressa Dunbar.
The organization, which previously received a $40,000 LYFE grant, provides training sessions for youth in fifth through eighth grades through its Starting Point program and for participants ages 9 through 20 in its Advanced program. The curriculum focuses on developing and maintaining healthy relationships, making smart decisions, avoiding risky behaviors, setting goals, and recognizing self-worth.
During Project Reclaim’s recent LYFE graduation ceremony, Dr. Shackleford evaluated the program and announced the additional funding to further support its initiatives.
“The LYFE program has now graduated our second group of youth participants. They have all done an outstanding job throughout the course of the program,” said LYFE Program Coordinator Zaria Stephens. “I am proud to be a part of helping our youth reach their full potential and to help them live their best LYFE.”
