It was a good night for Minden High athletics.
Not only did the Crimson Tide advance to the boys basketball state tournament Friday, Minden’s baseball team picked up two victories.
The Tide defeated Montgomery 2-0 and North Caddo 11-7 at home.
Elsewhere, Glenbrook fell to North DeSoto 6-0 at North DeSoto, and Doyline lost to Calvary Baptist 14-0 at Calvary.
Lakeside split a doubleheader at Many, losing the first game 6-1 and winning the second 10-9.
At Minden, Bray Winston pitched a one-hitter with seven strikeouts and two walks against Montgomery.
Montgomery’s Mason Jordan also turned in a strong performance on the mound. He allowed just three hits in six innings with nine strikeouts and two walks.
Minden’s Landyn Huddleston had a double. Jacob Jefferson had an RBI.
Huddleston went 3-for-4 with a double against North Caddo. Ryder Miller went 2-for-3 with three RBI. Keegan Pope had two RBI.
Bryson Ranger went four innings for the win.
Minden (9-6) visits Taylor Monday at 5 p.m.
At North DeSoto, the game was tight until the Griffins put up five in the bottom of the sixth.
Jackson Waller went 2-for-3 with a double.
Glenbrook (6-7) is scheduled to visit Benton Saturday at 11 a.m.
At Calvary, Doyline’s James Dodge, Jonas Florence and Zack Mosley had hits in the five-inning game. Calvary Baptist raised its record to 11-4.
Doyline (4-2) is scheduled to visit Red River Saturday at noon.
At Many, Lakeside scored a run in the top of the second to pull out the victory. Eli Campbell’s one-out single scored Jon Jon Dick.
Campbell went 3-for-4. Brock Case went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI. Peyton Gray went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Dick had a double.
Drake Chreene got the win in relief.
Dick went 3-for-3 with two doubles in the first game. Gage Williams had two RBI.
Campbell pitched a complete game. He allowed one earned run while striking out six and walking only one.
Lakeside (6-8) visits North Webster Monday.
