The Doyline Panthers and North Webster Knights won Thursday.
Doyline defeated Converse 4-1 in the Stanley tournament, and North Webster downed Dodson 14-2 at Dodson.
Elsewhere, Lakeside fell to Winnfield.9-2 in the first of a three-game District 3-2A series at Winnfield.
Doyline’s Noah Soears pitched a complete game. He allowed five hits, struck out nine and walked two. He also had a hit and walked twice.
The Panthers scored all four runs in the bottom of the fifth. Ayden Moreno-Taule led off with a single and James Dodge followed with a double. After Spears was intentionally walked with one out, Jonas Florence drove in two runs with a single.
Spears scored on Zach Normand’s sacrifice bunt. The fourth run was the result of an error.
Florence went 2-for-3.
Doyline (5-4) is scheduled to play Choudrant in the tournament Friday at 5:15.
At Winnfield, Lakeside had six hits. Peyton Gray went 2-for-4 Jake Glass had a two-RBI double in the top of the third.
The Warriors (7-10, 2-2) and the Tigers (7-6, 2-1) are scheduled to complete the series with a doubleheader Friday at 5 at Lakeside.
At Dodson, North Webster improved to 5-6 with the victory.
