The Glenbrook Apaches and Minden Crimson Tide won tournament games Friday.
Glenbrook defeated West Ouachita 7-2 in the Grace Christian tournament in Alexandria. Minden defeated Choudrant 3-2 in the Stanley tournament.
Elsewhere, Lakeside split a District 3-2A doubleheader at Lakeside. The Warriors won the first game 6-5 and the Tigers took the second 13-10.
Doyline fell to Zwolle 14-5 in the Stanley tournament.
Glenbrook’s Easton Sanders struck out 14 and walked only two against West Ouachita. He allowed four hits. Three of those came in the bottom of the sixth when the Chiefs tied it at two with two runs.
The Apaches answered with five in the top of the seventh. Leadoff batter Sam Ricord drew a walk and advanced to second on Kleaton Davis’ sacrifice bunt.
Darron Hollingsworth, Sanders and Seth Mangrum followed with consecutive singles to put the Apaches on top 3-2. Jackson Waller then smacked a triple, making it 6-2. Ryan Reagan’s two-out single scored the final run.
Waller had a big night. In addition to his triple, he hit two home runs and finished with five RBI. Reagan went 2-for-3.
Glenbrook (8-7) is scheduled to complete play in the tournament Saturday against St. Edmund at 10:30 a.m. and Holden at 2:30 p.m.
At Minden, the Tide scored all three of its runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Jacob Jefferson led off with a walk. Topher Wilson drew a walk with one out. Landyn Huddleston’s single loaded the bases.
Bryson Ranger grounded into a fielder’s choice and the bases remained loaded with two down. Hudson Brown then smacked a single and all three runners scored.
Minden finished with four hits. Jaxon Smith pitched a complete game. He struck out four and walked two.
Minden (11-6), which has won eight straight, is scheduled to play Zwolle Saturday at 11 a.m. in the tournament.
At Winnfield, Lakeside scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to win the first game.
Peyton Gray led off with a single and advanced to second on Drake Chreene’s sacrifice bunt.
Jon Jon Dick drew a walk. Gage Williams’ single loaded the bases. Eli Campbell’s sacrifice bunt to third scored Gray with the gamewinner.
Winnfield led 4-3 after four innings. Lakeside took the lead with two in the bottom of the fifth. The Tigers tied it in the top of the sixth,
Brock Case went 2-for-2. Gray and Williams both went 2-for-4. Dick drew three walks.
Williams pitched a complete game.
Winnfield had two big innings in the second game. The Tigers scored six in the third and four in the sixth.
Lakeside tied it at 7 with three in the third and fourth. The Tigers regained the lead with one in the top of the fifth then went up 12-7. The Warriors scored one in the sixth and two in the seventh.
Williams went 2-for-4 with a double. Jake Glass also went 2-for-4. Chreene had two hits, including a double, and two RBI. Dick had a double and two RBI.
Lakeside (8-11, 3-3) is scheduled to visit Grant Tuesday at 6:30. Winnfield improved to 8-7 and 4-1.
Doyline’s Noah Spears went 2-for-3 with two doubles against Zwolle. Ayden Moreno-Taule had two RBI.
Doyline (5-5) is scheduled to host Simsboro Tuesday at 5:30.
