High school baseball: Doyline splits District 1-B games

The Doyline Panthers split District 1-B games Friday on the road.

The Panthers defeated Castor 4-1 and fell to district champion Weston 15-0.

Dario Galvez went 2-for-2 with two doubles against Castor. Zach Normand had two doubles.

Noah Soears struck out 15 in 5 2/3 innings. He allowed two hits and walked two.

Normand allowed one hit and struck out three in 1 1/3 innings of relief.

According to GeauxPreps.com, Doyline (10-13) is No. 17 in the Class B power rankings with one game to play. The top 20 teams in the final rankings make the playoffs. Official pairings are set to be announced Tuesday.

Elsewhere, North Webster fell to Stanley 2-0 at Stanley. The Knights (11-11) are No. 24 in the non-select Division III power rankings with one game left. The top 24 teams in the final rankings make the playoffs.
