The Glenbrook Lady Apaches advanced to the second round of the select Division IV playoffs with an 18-3 victory over No. 23 Hanson Memorial in three innings Thursday at Glenbrook.
The No. 10 seed Lady Apaches (24-8) will travel to Ville Platte to play No. 7 Sacred Heart (20-8). The Lady Trojans received a first-round bye. Hanson Memorial closed its season 6-17.
Elsewhere, the No. 16 seed Minden Lady Tiders’ season came to an end with a 6-3 loss to No. 17 Rayne in a non-select Division II first-round game at Minden.
Minden closed the season 14-17. Rayne improved to 11-12.
At Glenbrook, the Lady Apaches trailed 2-1 after the first inning then put 15 on the board in the bottom of the second. After Hanson Memorial scored one in the top of the third, the game ended after Glenbrook scored two in the bottom of the inning.
Gabi Brown went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI. Anna Grace Vining went 2-for-2 with three RBI. Ellie Earnhardt went 2-for-3 with four RBI.
Gracie Heard and Hadley Haynes also went 2-for-3.
Savannah Mangrum pitched the first two innings and Rebecca Mosley pitched the third.
At Minden, the Lady Tiders trailed 3-1 after four innings then tied the game with two in the bottom of the fifth.
But the Lady Wolves scored two in the top of the sixth then added one in the seventh.
Lizzie Balkom went 3-for-4 with two doubles. Lindsay Ryan went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Leigha Kennon-Gilbert went 2-for-4.
Ryan pitched all seven innings. She allowed four hits and struck out nine. None of the Lady Wolves’ runs were earned as errors hurt the Lady Tiders.
In a non-select Division III first-round game, No. 25 seed North Webster fell to No. 8 French Settlement 15-0 at French Settlement.
The Lady Knights closed their season 7-11.
