Citizens About Progress hosts “Blocking with the Seniors” parade to celebrate graduates of all ages

by Minden Press-Herald

Citizens About Progress (CAP) is excited to present its Annual “Blocking with the Seniors” Parade — a dynamic celebration honoring graduates of all ages, including Pre-K, Kindergarten, Head Start, High School, and College.

The celebration kicks off on Saturday, May 10th, 2025, at 1:00 PM, with the parade line-up beginning at the C.A.C Building, 202 West Church St, Springhill, LA 71075.

This festive drive-through event invites the entire community to get involved! Graduates are encouraged to decorate their cars in their school colors, wear their caps and gowns, and show off their achievements with pride.

In addition, we invite residents along the parade route to join in the celebration by decorating their homes and yards with balloons, posters, signs, or streamers in support of the graduates. Let’s show our youth that their hard work matters!

“This is more than just a parade,” says Terrell Mendenhall of CAP. “It’s a city-wide moment of pride, recognition, and unity. We want to celebrate every step of progress, from preschool to higher education.”

Graduates wishing to participate must RSVP by May 5th by calling or texting 318-639-7008.

Come honk, beep, and cheer for the Class of 2025. Let’s block for every scholar paving the way for a brighter tomorrow!
