High school baseball: Lakeside rolls into second round with sweep of Crowley

The No. 13 seed Lakeside Warriors completed a sweep of the No. 20 Crowley Gents in the first round of the non-select Division III playoffs with an 8-2 victory Saturday at Lakeside.

Lakeside (20-14) will visit No. 4 Westlake (22-10) in the second round next week. The Rams received a first-round bye. Crowley finished 16-17.

Peyton Gray pitched a complete game. He scattered six hits, struck out two and walked none.

Gray also had a big day at the plate. He went 3-for-5 with a double and an RBi.

Jon Jon Dick went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Brock Case, Gage Williams and Eli Campbell all went 2-for-4. Williams and Case both doubled. Campbell stole home to put the Warriors up 4-1 in the third.

Drake Chreene had a hit. Jake Glass drew three walks. 

The Warriors were the designated visiting team. They led 2-1 after two innings then put two on the board in the top of the third.

After two scoreless innings, Lakeside tacked on two more in the sixth for a 6-1 lead. The Warriors added two more in the seventh.
