Walmart will renovate its store at 1920 S. Arkansas Street in Springhill this year as part of a statewide effort that will update 35 Louisiana locations, the company announced Wednesday.
The Springhill project is included in a nationwide plan to remodel more than 650 stores in 2025. Walmart said it has spent $402 million upgrading Louisiana outlets during the past five years.
Improvements will feature larger, bolder signs, expanded departments, additional items, wider pharmacy aisles, privacy checkout areas and a private screening room. The store also will add capacity for online pickup and delivery orders, the retailer said.
Nick Berkeley, senior vice president for Walmart’s Southeast business unit, said the remodeled stores “are a testament to our dedication to enhancing” each location’s role in its community.
Walmart employs more than 36,000 people across 137 Louisiana stores and two supply‑chain facilities. The company said 20,291 hourly workers in the state received bonuses in March, and 2,161 associates were promoted last year.
In fiscal 2024, Walmart, the Walmart Foundation and Sam’s Club donated $21.3 million to Louisiana nonprofits, spent $502.9 million with in‑state suppliers and provided 11 million pounds of food to local food banks, according to the release.
The Bentonville, Ark.-based retailer was recently named to Fortune’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” and LinkedIn’s “Top Companies” lists for 2025.
