High school track and field: Six Lakeside athletes qualify for state meet

Six Lakeside athletes qualified for the Class 2A state meet with top-3 finishes in the Region I-2A meet Tuesday in Shreveport.

Lexi Bradley qualified in three events.

She finished second in the 800 in 2 minutes, 34.15 seconds. Ouachita Christian’s Leah Baker won in 2:30.45.

Bradley finished third in the 3,200 in 13:49.20. Ouachita Christian’s Caroline Pankey won in 13:49.20.

Bradley teamed with Angel Collins, Bailey Mangrum and Alexis McIntosh for a runner-up finish in the 4X800 relay in 11:17.13. Ouachita Christian win in 11:03.48.

McKenzie Chase was second in the pole vault with a 9-0. Ouachita Christian’s Kelsey Woods won with a 9-6.

Ryleigh Taylor and Annie Cooper posted fourth-place finishes and will be alternates for the state meet.

Taylor was fourth in the 200 and long jump. In the latter, her jump of 15 feet, 7 inches was just one inch less than that of third-place finisher Germanee Robertson of Mansfield.

Cooper was fourth in the 800.

Lakeside finished fourth in the girls division with 43 points. Ouachita Christian won with 102 and Mansfield was second with 88.

Kentravion Miller was Lakeside’s lone state qualifier in the boys division. He finished second in the shot put with a throw of 44-6.75. Ouachita Christian’s Jackson Mann won with a 49-3.5.

The Class 2A state meet is Friday, May 9, at LSU.
