SHONGALOO — Webster Parish Sheriff’s detectives have established that 68-year-old Gary Reo Modisette has allegedly been sexually abusing young girls, some as young as 7-years-old, for more than 40 years.
Modisette, who lives in Shongaloo, was arrested last week on six counts of indecent behavior and molestation of juveniles. Now, detectives say, at least four more victims have come forward and still others could do the same.
Sheriff’s office Chief Deputy Bobby Igo said the first victim came forward with her story on Jan. 21, telling investigators that Modisette sexually abused her when she was 11-years-old.
“Our detectives found other reports from women who came forward in reference to Gary Modisette abusing them when they were juveniles,” Igo said. “Detectives reopened those cases, conducted interviews with the victims and witnesses and were able to locate additional victims.”
During the course of the investigation, detectives established that the first case of abuse against Modisette occurred in 1973.
“Our investigators believe that some victims may have reported the abuse crimes in the 1980s or 90s,” Igo said. “We’re asking that anyone who is a victim to please contact detectives Scott Tucker or Jennifer Ervin at 377-1515.”
Igo said the victims in the case range in age from 7 to 15-years-old. Detectives have established a timeline of the cases and the disposition of each. Those include:
First victim reportedly was 12 when the abuse began in 1973, and continued until she was 16 years old. Modisette was not charged because the statute of limitations had expired. Abuse of a juvenile carries a 30-year statute of limitations.
Victim two was 11-years-old when the abuse occurred in 1985. The suspect has been booked on a warrant charging indecent behavior with a juvenile, victim under age of 13.
Next victim was 15-years-old at time of abuse in 1992. Suspect wasbooked on warrant for indecent behavior with a juvenile.
Victim was 7-years-old when abuse occurred in 1995. Suspect booked on warrant for indecent behavior with a juvenile, victim under age of 13.

Im loving it!! I think the count is 10 now!! I don’t think he will be going anywhere near a juvenile for the rest of his life!!! 🙂
Just totally speechless. Prayers for all the females and their families that are involved in this..
Will everyone that sees this PLEASE share!! Please!!
Just wondering…..where is his fan club today?!?!
If you are referring to ME….And i only speak for me…. I am right here…NOT A FAN or in any fan Club. I simply have children that are in this immediate family. Lets get one thing straight before people get offended. I DO NOT and will not make any excuses or try to defend this horrific act in any way. NOR will i make light of any crime he committed that harmed innocent children. I WILL however defend my children, grand children and extended family etc just like any of you mothers will and have. They did not have the opportunity to choose to be in this family no more than the children that fell victim to this. And the things that are being said are not helping/healing any of the victims in any way.If it helps any of you that feel the need to say vile and inexcusable things to heal from your past then maybe i can understand that but i highly doubt it will. Keeping this in the public eye, i can totally understand. I don’t begrudge anyone on there opinions only asked that you also take into consideration the fact that his family is being hurt as well as the children he harmed. I as a mother would have probably taken matters into my own hands had this happened to mine. I totally understand the rage and hurt. Keep in mind your words will linger for years and cut deeper than any knife. Just as everyone else this is my opinion and see… i did’t have to throw anything vile, make threats or anything else to let my opinion known. I will continue to pray for everyone DIRECTLY affected by this.
Well, thats is scary! Lived around there all my life and my kids did, too!
Oh my, I dated him when I was a senior in high school and a freshman and sophomore in college. We corresponded when he went into the Army! I went my own way and he married someone else! Unbelievable.
Hope he rots in prison!
