Albert ‘Don’ Lathan

Albert “Don” Lathan passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Sept. 20, 2017 at the age of 75. Don was born to the late A. D. and Hazel Lathan on Feb. 9, 1942 in Giblsand.

At an early age Don accepted Christ into his life. He was baptized at Springfield Baptist Church of Mt. Lebanon. Don loved life.

He enjoyed dancing, fishing, playing a mean game of dominoes, and spending time with his loved ones.

Don started working at the Woodard and Walker Saw Mill as a log truck driver. The sawmill changed names over the years. In 2002, Don retired from that old saw mill (Weyerhaeuser).

Don was united in marriage to Minnie O. Lathan fifty-two years ago. To this union nine children were reared Dennis (Debra), Albert, Jacquline (Wesley), Donna, Helen, Donald Ray (Resiland), John D. (Alicia), Kimberly (Charles), and Sheila.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son(Albert Harrison), and one sibling (Arthur J. Lathan). The siblings left to relish his memories are: Louis (Eddie), Betty (John), Bobby (Shirley), Roseria (James), and Estelle (Andrew); 21 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
