Alumni basketball game raises fun and funds

by Amber McDown

In a spirited gathering on December 15, Glenbrook School alumni converged on the court for a charity basketball game aimed at fundraising for new jerseys for the school’s basketball team. Notable community figures, including Councilman Andy Pendergrass, 15 under 40 honoree Logan Hollinsworth, and Apache Princess 2022 Olivia Blackwelder, showcased their athletic prowess, blending recent graduates with those who had been away from the court for several years.

The Red team opted for a classic red-shirted ensemble, while a number of the Blue team embraced a more flamboyant style, donning leopard print shorts and oversized wigs that proved less than resilient to the game’s vigor.

In a competitive match, the Blue team emerged victorious, securing bragging rights with a final score of 62 to 48. Special awards were presented: Joseph Windham showed his excellence by being named MVP, Hot Shot, and Best Rebounder; Maddox Mandino was named Fan Favorite; Trey Byram was named Top Shooter; Chris Scroggs was named Perfect Passer; Bobby Igo was named Top Shot Blocker; and Colton Spurlock was named Best Hustler. This alumni basketball game showcased the enduring camaraderie among Glenbrook School alumni and the current students.
