Appointed City Clerk decides not to take up the position, cites turmoil within the City Council

by Will Phillips

The applicant for City Clerk has decided not to come work with the City of Minden, citing being unsure of whether or not they would be accepted into the position, as well as the turmoil that exists within the city council.

Mayor Terry Gardner stated in an email, “The applicant, Karen Walker stated that she did not feel comfortable coming on board with the city because of the lack of knowing whether or not she would actually be appointed both now and in the future. While waiting for the appointment, she started searching for other job opportunities and debated even up until today about which job to take. Karen said she felt the whole council was not interested in her coming to be their city clerk.”

“She also stated, even with her being appointed on Tuesday’s meeting, she did not feel good about coming to work with such turmoil going on among the council,” said Gardner. “She wishes everyone the best as we continue to search for the next city clerk.”
