Arrest Made in Investigation of Murdered Child

by Minden Press-Herald

An arrest has been made in the ongoing investigation of the murder of the three year old child that took place on Plum Street in Minden last week. The Minden Police Department working alongside the Assistant District Attorney and a Detective From Bossier City Police Department were able to attain enough probable cause to arrest Jacorein Richardson who resides in the 2000 block of Old Minden Road in Bossier.

Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper stated that the BCPD took Richardson into custody on charges for first degree murder with the bond set at $750,000 earlier today.

Chief Cropper stated that the individual was arrested in the vehicle believed to be the one he was in during the night of the shooting. A weapon that matched the caliber of the one used that same night was found in the vehicle as well, though authorities can’t say for sure whether or not it’s a match at this time.

Cropper stated that the current understanding they have reached into their investigation is that the Plum Street shooting was made in retaliation for a murder that took place earlier that evening.

“We feel strongly this was in retaliation for a murder that was committed in Arcadia about three and half hours prior to the shooting on Plum Street,” said Chief Cropper.

“The person that has been arrested since has been in the house where the baby was killed. We feel he was the intended target.”

Currently the investigation is still ongoing. The Minden Press-Herald will provide updates as the story develops.
