5G Network Expansion in Homer Enhances AT&T Customers and FirstNet Subscribers’ Connectivity Experience

AT&T* added a new cell site to expand 5G coverage and capacity across Homer, helping residents, businesses and public safety on FirstNet® get more from their mobile devices.

The new site in Homer boosts coverage along Johnson Road.

“Expanding reliable connectivity across Louisiana is essential to strengthening our communities and our economy,” said State Representative Rashid Young. “Every new site like this one helps ensure that families, businesses, and first responders have the tools they need to stay connected in today’s digital world.”

“The expanded wireless network in Homer is a crucial step towards bridging the digital divide and ensuring seamless connectivity for our community,” said Homer Mayor Dr. Xanthe Y. Seals. “This new tower will not only enhance communications but also empower our residents, businesses and emergency services with reliable, high-speed network coverage.”

AT&T 5G brings fast, reliable and highly secure connectivity to more than 315 million people in over 26,900 cities and towns nationwide, including Homer. This helps Louisiana residents and businesses get the best possible experience over the AT&T network wherever they live, work and play.

These enhancements also bring Band 14 spectrum to the area. Band 14 is high-quality spectrum dedicated to FirstNet®—the only nationwide communications network built with and for public safety. In emergencies, this band – or lane – can be cleared and locked exclusively for FirstNet subscribers. When not in use by FirstNet subscribers, AT&T customers can enjoy Band 14’s added coverage and capacity.

Created by the U.S. Congress, FirstNet was shaped by the first responder community’s vision following the 9/11 terrorist attacks. It is built with AT&T in public-private partnership with the FirstNet Authority – an independent authority within the federal government.

“We’re proud to invest in Homer’s future by expanding our 5G network and supporting the connectivity needs of this vibrant community,” said David Aubrey, President, AT&T Louisiana. “Whether it’s streaming, learning, working, or responding to emergencies, we want everyone in Homer to have consistent performance on our network.”

From 2020 to 2024, AT&T invested more than $2.2 billion in our wireless and wireline networks in Louisiana to boost reliability, coverage, speed and overall performance for residents and businesses.
