Minden High junior Zi’Kerrion Baker had a big weekend, traveling to Baton Rouge for LSU’s Boys from the Boot.
Boys from the Boot is an invitation only event for Louisiana’s top junior prospects, designed to introduce 2017 prospects and their families to the LSU Tigers football program.
Baker was chosen by the LSU tight ends coach Steven Ensminger and got to spend time with Les Miles and Bradley Dale-Peveto, as well as players like Leonard Fournette and Brandon Harris.
“It was fun,” Baker said of his weekend in Baton Rouge. “I enjoyed interacting with the coaches and players. That and they tell you a lot about the education you can get there.”
Baker also had free tickets to see LSU beat Texas A&M in basketball, got to take a virtual tour of athletic dorms and walk the field at Tiger Stadium. Baker said he plans on getting back on campus to visit LSU again.
Boys from the Boot is the first step in Baker’s recruiting process, but said he isn’t too worried about that just yet.
“I’m more concerned with getting back to work with my teammates and helping our team go as far as we can next season,” Baker said.
The 6’1”, 220-pound defensive end/linebacker was named honorable mention All-State, first team All-Area and first team All-District for the Crimsom Tide in 2015.
