Glenbrook senior Easton Sanders and 2024 Minden graduate Brody Bower are headed to the American Legion Baseball World Series.
Sanders started Sunday’s championship game against Tupelo, Miss., in Washington, Mo., and almost pitched a complete game. After throwing 105 pitches, he had to come out with just two outs in the bottom of the seventh and the Phillies on top 5-2 because of the pitch-count rule.
With the bases loaded, Beckville, Texas, senior Cade Moore came in and walked in a run. But he then induced a grounder to second and 2024 Benton graduate Hudson Brignac tagged the runner out as he slid past second.
That completed a 5-3 victory. Sanders scattered seven hits, struck out nine and walked only one.
Bower pitched a complete game in Bossier’s 6-2 victory over Tupelo on Saturday. He scattered eight hits, struck out three and walked one. Sanders had an RBI.
Bossier went 5-1 in the eight-team tournament. The World Series is Aug. 15-20 in Shelby, N.C.
