Former Minden star Landon Brewer has been selected by the Texas Rangers in the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.
Brewer, a pitcher, was picked in the 15th round and was the 447th pick overall.
A Louisiana Tech signee, he was named to both the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Class 4A All-State first team and the Louisiana Baseball Coaches Association All-State Division II team last season.
He was also named the Pitcher of the Year on the LBCA All-Region I team and a first-team All-District 1-4A selection.
Brewer, who was also an infielder, was 4-1 with one save last season. He had an ERA of 0.412 with 87 strikeouts in 51 innings. He batted .431 with 17 doubles, one triple and two home runs and an OPS of 1.192.
