DUBBERLY – A traffic stop ended in the arrest of a man with active warrants for striking a man in the mouth.
Joshua J. Collins, 20, aka “Josh,” of the 700 block of Central School Road, was arrested Sunday, April 3, on two warrants for simple battery and remaining after being forbidden. Bond was set at $2,400.Maj. Dustin Reynolds, with the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office, says the warrants were issued in December 2015, when deputies responded to an incident at Southwood Apartments in Sibley. Collins reportedly went to an apartment and asked to go inside, and the apartment owner denied him entry.
“He apparently forced his way into the apartment and struck the apartment owner twice in the mouth,” he said. “The victim then called the sheriff’s office and filed charges.”
Heflin Police Chief Paul Migues stopped Collins on April 3 in Heflin on a traffic violation, and when he ran a background check, he learned Collins had two active warrants. He then took Collins into custody and transported him to the sheriff’s office.
Deputy Jeremy Robinson took Collins into custody and transported him to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
