A man accused of shooting someone with a BB gun is now behind bars.
David Harmanson, 25, of the 700 block of Sibley Road was arrested Sunday, June 7, and charged with aggravated battery and aggravated assault with a firearm.
Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper says officers were dispatched to Sibley Road in reference to someone shot with a BB gun.
“When they arrived, the victim was walking on the sidewalk in front of his home,” he said, “and when officers made contact with the victim, he indicated that Mr. Harmanson shot him in the upper left arm with a BB gun, causing a minor injury.”
At that point, the victim apparently armed himself with a .22 caliber rifle in self-defense after he got shot, the chief says.
“When officers got there, both firearms – the BB gun and the .22 caliber rifle – were recovered from the bedroom,” he said.
Officers responding to the scene were Sgt. Chris McClaran, Officer First Class Shawn Jenkins and Officer First Class Clint Smith.
Harmanson was booked at the Minden Police Station and transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
