Minden police arrested a man on Saturday, December 6, after a package containing a pair of boots was reported stolen from a front porch in the 700 block of Shreveport Road, according to a department report.
An officer was dispatched to the residence, where the homeowner said he received a delivery notification and photo showing a package on his porch. The package, valued at $90 and containing brown boots, was missing when he went to retrieve it. He told police a man he had hired for yard work had been at the home around the time of the delivery.
After speaking with the homeowner, an officer searched the area and located the man, identified as Ira Miller, 51, on East Street near Martin Luther King Drive carrying a white bag. Police said Miller was found in possession of the stolen boots.
Miller was advised of his rights, detained and transported for booking on a theft charge.
When asked, the Minden Police Department said porch thefts have not been a significant issue so far this holiday season but encouraged residents to monitor deliveries closely.
All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
